This 51" X 62" quilt is a great choice for the beginner who is looking for the next level. It features two fabrics with two complimentary faabrics for the center squares that seem to float over the block.

This 62" square scrapy quilt was designed by Cynthia Brunz and appeared in "dear quilty" magazine by Mary Fons & Team Quility. Each of the 25 blocks are part patchwork and part flying geese. Since I've always had limited success with flying geese, I decided to do them as paper stitching. This method of paper piecing uses the pattern as a guide: you don't sew on the paper so there is no paper to tear off later and the paper pattern is reusable. I divided my quilt into five color groups: blue, green, purple, brown and teal. Each group is used to make 5 of the blocks. Your quilt can be other colors if you choose.

A geometric quilt that uses color to add dimension.

Cost: $ 30.00
This pattern is in the book More Twist - and - Turn Bargello Quilts by Eileen Wright. I made the sample with 2" wide strips rather than 1 1/2" and increased the width of the rows in the chart on page 42 by 1/2" each. So the sample quilt with two borders finished at 62" X 67". I increased the size of the quilt to make it easier to work with the pieces. You will not be using pins while sewing the bargello except to label strip sets and rows.

Cost: $ 30.00
The quilt is made with 18" blocks so it comes together quickly. I added a flying geese border using the leftover fabric from making the blocks. Twelve blocks make a 54" X 72" quilt without the optional border. Nine blocks at 54" X 54" make a great lap quilt or child's quilt.

Cost: $ 20.00

The three 12" square blocks that make up this 18" X 42" table runner/wall hanging are created by paper piecing. However, this paper piecing is done without actually sewing on the paper; this means there is no tearing off the paper when you are finished and the pattern is resuable.

The PhD part stands for Projects Half Done. This part of the class is where you can bring in a project from one of my classes that you need more time or help with and I will be able to work with you.
